Industrial Athletes Deserve a Team: How Support Structures Transform Outcomes

Jaelin Kauf is a U.S. Freestyle Moguls skier and Olympic medalist known for her speed, technical precision, and ability to perform under pressure. Growing up in the mountains and a family of skiers, she found her passion for snow early and eventually fell in love with the sport of mogul skiing. Over the last decade, she’s built a career competing at the highest level, earning over 50 World Cup podiums, World Championship medals, Crystal Globes, and three Olympic medals while representing Team USA, and has become the most decorated mogul skier in U.S. Olympic history. Beyond the snow, Jaelin is passionate about using her platform to inspire others to be their best selves. Through her new foundation, Deliver the Love, she works to inspire the next generation to lead with confidence, purpose, and love. Whether on snow or on stage, Jaelin brings an honest and grounded perspective on what it takes to show up, push limits, and find joy in the process.

For over 20 years Dr. Josh Schuette has worked as a physical therapist specializing in the field of workers’ compensation. In his current position with Brooks Rehabilitation, he performs 4 main roles: National Sales, assisting case management, performing Functional Capacity Evaluations, and developing new workers’ compensation programs including 2 out of the first 3 national value-based care programs. Dr. Schuette is the National 2023 Comp Laude “Be the Change” award winner, the 2024 SAWCA Comp Talks Champion, and a 2025 Deconstructing Comp Changemaker award. He is on the faculty of WorkCompCollege.com and is the host of its “Voice of the Provider” program. Josh is a member of the Florida Board of Kids' Chance and also volunteers for Give Kids The World as well as Ainsley's Angels assisting adapted athletes compete in endurance events like running races, triathlons & Spartan races.

Luke is the Owner/Director of the pain education company, The Neuro Orthopaedic Institute, also known as, Noigroup. His physiotherapy journey began with a degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia, followed by a move into clinical practice in New York. In NYC, Luke co-founded New York Sports Medicine, a company he later sold.

Still one of New York City’s most prominent physical therapists, Luke’s extensive experience in managing acute and chronic pain and sports injuries means he travels frequently to work with professional and Olympic athletes and touring performing arts/dance company members. He currently serves as a consultant with the NFL, NBA, AFL, and European soccer professional teams. Luke is also affiliated with the clinical education programs of Columbia University and Touro College.

Dr. Shelby Moreira is a Forensic and Behavioral Pain & Trauma Medicine Specialist who works at the intersection of the 4 epidemics in the workers’ compensation system: Chronic Pain, PTSD, Brain Injury and prescription drug abuse. As part of an advanced transdisciplinary clinical team, she works in an evidence-based space that focuses on systematically reversing the common disabling trajectories of medical syndromes that have been resistant to, or failed prior medical care, and which contributes to over 80% of the cost of the work comp system. Prior to joining Institutes of Health, Dr. Moreira worked as a trauma therapist at Rady Children’s Hospital, as well as having worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the California State Prison System where she primarily focused on forensic, diagnostic, cognitive, neuro assessment and treatment. Her doctoral research explored the important differences in neurocognitive capacities of adult offenders versus juvenile/young adult offenders.

Dr. Petrofsky is a Board Certified Occupational and Environmental combat veteran physician with 25 years of occupational safety experience preventing, assessing, identifying, and reducing workplace hazards through collaboration with city, state, federal and corporate clients. Creative team-based approach to efficient patient centered work injury care, claims resolution and risk management. She is a subject matter exert for complex Fit-for-Duty, Return to Work and Medico-Legal Evaluations assessing exposures and causation. She is currently an Executive Board Member for the California Society Industrial Medicine & Surgery, (CSIMS), Vice President as well as Education Chair and CSIMS 2025 Committee Chair. She is passionate about Worker Injury Care and the Workers Compensation medical delivery system. Dr Petrofsky is involved in philanthropic community service with National Charities League, and can be found outside of work spending time with kids and dogs in mountains and on the ski slopes.
